In part four we explore bigger ideas that emerged from the project. Design affects our mind, which influences culture. From our observations of the world around us, we're noticing lack of thought, effort, and commitment in contemporary architecture. Our culture has become cookie-cutter.

In part three we explore execution of the idea. The new book "Nuance & Notes" will be black and white images of designs on building facades. How will we create that component? Walk the streets and take photos. We ventured around New York, London, and Chicago. Through practice, we realized Paris would be a treasure trove.

New book project "Nuance & Notes." This is part two of a six part series explaining the origin and story.

In part one we decided to take a step back and slow down. We placed our self in hotel lobbies and observed the space. In part two we share our fascination with light fixtures. Light is energy and has a direct effect on human beings. The light fixture of a space often sets the tone. Towards the end of a trip in Miami, the idea for the new book project reveals itself.

293. Nuance & Notes (1/6): Taking a Step Back

New book project "Nuance & Notes." This is part one of a six part series explaining the origin and story.

In part one we start at the beginning. We have a near-death experience, we intentionally take a step back from what we were doing, we slow down and notice the nuance around us—especially in hotel lobbies. Everything is there for a reason and is communicating and affecting us, whether we're conscious or not.

292. Guided Self-Reflection Session 9 via The Quantum School

The solutions for the future and life start with self-reflection. The Quantum School is a project by Rich to encourage this activity. Starting or doing it by one's self can be difficult, so Rich will help by guiding sessions on a consistent basis.

291. Cousin Frank on String Cheese, Human Interaction, & Technology in Society

On Thanksgiving Eve, Rich visits Cousin Frank. They have a conversation in Cousin Frank's garage. The two eat Cedar Valley string cheese. Cousin Frank shares stories of human interactions. Rich and Cousin Frank exchange dialogue and wonder about technology in society. Where are we? Where do we want to go together as it relates to society? Has it disrupted how we treat each other as humans? Has it made us more self-centered rather than community-centered?
